Wolves to make stunning £35m bid for top Liverpool keeper target

Newly-promoted Wolves are reportedly ready to make a stunning £35million move for Stoke and England goalkeeper Jack Butland.

The Championship winners are said to be ready to join the chase for Butland, if the Potters are relegated from the Premier League.

Nuno Esperito Santo’s side are ready to show that they mean business on their return to England’s top flight and a report in the Daily Express states that 25-year-old Butland is their top target.

However, Wolves will face stiff competition to land the former Birmingham star, with Liverpool tipped as the frontrunners for the player while West Ham are also said to be keen.

It is also believed that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was monitoring Butland’s situation, but the Frenchman’s impending Emirates exit means it is less likely that the stopper will head to north london.

For their part, Stoke are desperate to keep the player but realise they have will have little option but to sell if relegation becomes a reality.

Wolves, who are also said to be keen on Butland’s Stoke team-mate Joe Allen, currently have John Ruddy between the sticks and the former Norwich man has had an impressive season.

He earned the Championships Golden Glove trophy after keeping 24 clean sheets so far this season, but despite that it would appear that Wolves are still looking for an upgrade in the position.

The report goes on to state that the Molineux outfit will try and get a deal done for Butland before this summer’s World Cup in Russia, with Butland in a battle with Everton’s Jordan Pickford for England’s No.1 spot.
