Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Struggling to find the net

Ian Wright has added his name to the crowd questioning Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contributions to the Manchester United team.

The former Arsenal man believes that the Swede has become a ‘passenger’ having found goals hard to come by since the start of the season.

Ibrahimovic scored in the Charity Shield, before bagging four goals in four league games, but has found the net just once since when he netted against Zorya in the Europa League.

“Zlatan Ibrahimovic needs to look at himself” Wright stated.

“Wayne Rooney has been given so much stick this season with the way that he is played.

“Ibrahimovic is a great player but he isn’t playing anywhere near as well as he was at the start of the season.

“He hasn’t been able to make me think he will be able to help them turn it around. He is a passenger.”

This comes after former Manchester United defender Gordon McQueen said Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been “very poor” for Jose Mourinho’s men this season.

McQueen, who made 184 appearances for United over seven years at Old Trafford, thinks Zlatan Ibrahimovic “is not good enough” to play for the club and is partly responsible for their poor form.

“Ibrahimovic has done nothing so far and looks very poor. He looks like an old man playing football,” he said.

“He might have got 50-odd goals in France last season, but it’s an inferior league to the Premier League and he is proving it this season.

“There is nothing like our league for pace and intensity, and he is finding it out the hard way.”
