Yeovil v Charlton preview

Yeovil are sweating over the condition of goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin’s finger ahead of their clash with the Addicks.

On-loan Gilmartin dislocated his digit in the 0-0 draw with Rochdale at Spotland last weekend and the club are waiting on the results of a scan to see whether or not the Watford man will be able to play against the promotion-chasing Addicks.

With youth-team stopper Matt Cafer and keeping coach Gareth Stewart both ruled out through injury, the Glovers may have to dip into the emergency loan market to provide cover in between the sticks should Gilmartin be declared unfit.

Yeovil manager Terry Skiverton will also be without full-back Kerrea Gilbert, who serves the first match of a three-game ban following his dismissal against Dale on Saturday.

However, centre-back Bondz N’Gala returns to the Glovers’ squad after sitting out the stalemate in the north west because of his own one-match suspension.

Charlton boss Chris Powell will once again be without captain Johnnie Jackson for the Boxing Day clash trip to the Glovers.

Jackson has been on the sidelines since suffering a hamstring injury in the 1-0 win over Brentford on November 19, but is now back in training.

The Addicks have been monitoring Jackson closely and he is set to step up the intensity of his training, although the match will come too soon for him.

Jackson’s fellow midfielder, Dale Stephens, remains sidelined after suffering an ankle injury.

If Jackson is not able to start, on-loan duo Hogan Ephraim and Darel Russell will most likely fill their midfield berths.

Charlton are five points clear at the top of npower League One and looking to extend their unbeaten league run to eight matches.

Yeovil v Charlton preview

Suspension will rule defender Adam Virgo out of Yeovil’s clash with promotion-chasing Charlton.

The former Brighton and Celtic man will serve the final game of a three-match ban received for the red card he was shown against Sheffield Wednesday.

Virgo was sent off for a professional foul just three minutes after replacing Dean Bowditch in the 2-2 draw on January 25.

Other than that, Glovers boss Terry Skiverton has no fresh injury or suspension worries.

Skiverton will be looking to build on an impressive recent run of form that has seen him nominated for January’s League One Manager of the Month award.

The Yeovil boss has overseen a remarkable turnaround at Huish Park, winning five and drawing three of their last nine league outings.

Charlton will check on Federico Bessone ahead of the trip to Yeovil.

The on-loan Leeds defender made his debut in Tuesday night’s win over Colchester but had to come off 10 minutes from the end due to a slight hamstring strain.

Matt Fry is on standby to replace Bessone at left-back in what will be the final game of his current loan spell from West Ham, although Charlton hope to extend the deal.

Another full-back, Kelly Youga, remains the only long-term absentee with a knee injury.

Manager Chris Powell, who has two wins from two games since taking charge, could recall midfielder Therry Racon if he adopts a more defensive formation away from home.

Striker Paul Benson is pushing for a recall after returning from suspension as a substitute in midweek.
