Memphis Depay: Celebrates United's fifth

Memphis Depay: Celebrates United's fifth

Also, why Antonio Conte will work at Chelsea, predictions for the Capital One Cup final and why Arsene Wenger is wrong to write Arsenal off against Barcelona.

If you have anything to add on any subject, you know what to do – post on the Your Say forum now.

Conte like Hiddink, but with extra appeal

Apart from some little doubts about youth introduction, Conte is otherwise a very appealing option for Chelsea. His style of football is great according to the Italian journos. And his success is there to be seen even for the blind. Another appealing factor is his personality and character.

He is calm like our own Hiddink and likes to put an arm around players. He took Carlos Tevez who doesn’t speak Italian to Juventus and put his arm around him. I’m certain if appointed he will replicate that to Costa and Hazard, something that they didn’t have before Hiddink’s arrival.

Season’s best for United – and with the weakest side

Last night was great to watch and there was never any doubt Manchester United were on top.

I don’t understand people’s gripes with Mata, he was fantastic yesterday and is generally one of our better players certainly a player who has that touch of quality to pick a decent pass when required. He is far better through the middle.

Made up for Rashford lets hoe he isnt another Macheda.

Depay I have always wanted to succeed , his loss of confidence and inability to do the basics of late has been horrible to watch but against Shrewsbury and last night he has been great.

Varela always looks brilliant to me, he definately raises the pace for us and only has one thing in mind, attack so glad to see him getting another start. Riley looked decent too.

Our best performance of the season with the weakest looking team sheet.. maybe there is something to be said for that.

Wembley predictions – from rival fans (and a neutral)

Following our brilliant UCL victory in Russia (editor’s note – it was Ukraine), and after pool fell over the line in the Europa, one can rightly assume we should win this in a canter. ok all agreed!!!

Are you forgetting that we’ve already kicked your backside once this year? I think it will be a closer final than many predict, and if Firmino,Coutinho and Sturridge all start,I fancy us to nick it.
Should be a great game whatever happens. 2 teams that are not playing at their best at the moment, but obviously, I fancy Liverpool to emerge winners.

I strongly fancy City as Liverpool can not contain Sergio Aguero. He is the difference.

City’s goalkeeper for Capital One Cup final

What’s the betting Manuel Pellegrini changes keeper for the League Cup final and Joe throws one in? Lucky one on Wednesday it dropped on the bar not into the net.
I think Willie Caballero should play as he’s been OK in this cup and as pell is leaving anyway there are no ‘keeping his job’ issues.

Why Willian is well worth a new deal at Chelsea

I would argue that Willian joined Chelsea and did not set the world alight initially but over his time at the Club he has consistently improved and adapted his game and now has added goals. He is on an upward trend and fully deserves a new contract (IMO) and for me, would always be one of the first names on a Chelsea team sheet as I love everything he brings to the Club

Hazard started off well and then had a fantastic season where everything he touched turned to gold and this season has been his worst of all at the Club

No one would dispute that on his day that Hazard is the one player who can turn a game and create something out of nothing but if I am being brutally honest he has had only last season where he consistently showed that ability. As many stated in the close season when Hazard was being compared to Messi and Ronaldo it is the consistency over a number of seasons that will set him apart and make him considered to be world class

This season he has not achieved that. Does Hazard have the “permanent class” referred to – of course I hope so and hope he displays that at Chelsea for many years to come; but only time will tell…? KTBFFH

England’s midfield options and Xabi Alonso’s criticism

I think people are split on Carrick because they don’t think he’s very good not because of the role he plays.

Barkley is not like Gerrard, he is a flair player full of tricks & skill. Ali is not a player who relies on tackling nor is Lallana, Wilshire, Carrick. Milner & Henderson are workhorses but both decent footballers too.

If you have interpreted Alonso’s comments to mean we don’t appreciate Carrick type of players, how can you explain the appreciation English fans have of Pirlo? We may not produce great players like Pirlo but that doesn’t mean players like him and Busquets aren’t respected. Horsecrap from Alonso.

Why has Wenger written off Arsenal?

I know it looks like Mission Impossible but it’s disappointing to hear Wenger talking about Arsenal being 95% eliminated and that Wenger is considering playing a weakened team v Barca in the return leg.

It is still only half-time in this tie and there are 90 mins to play Barca will go into the game thinking the tie is won and a full strength Arsenal hitting Barca on the break might just pull back an early goal and you never know from there.

Completely different competition and circumstances but I remember being at the Bridge in January 1997 when Chelsea were 2 nil down to Liverpool at HT in the 4th Round of the FA Cup and seemingly out of the Cup and you would have certainly got long odds on Chelsea winning the FA Cup that season at that point yet Chelsea turned the tie around winning 4-2 and went on to win the FA Cup too. It’s never over until it’s over.
