Your Says of the Day: Rodgers talking rubbish, Sturridge doesn’t fit

Brendan Rodgers: Refusing to panic

TEAMtalk readers react to Brendan Rodgers’ claim that Celtic would be a top-six side in the Premier League, while Daniel Sturridge’s future is debated.

Celtic ‘a top-six side in the PL’?

Fair play to Celtic they worked their socks off against City, and can be proud of that performance.

But there are six English teams with a higher UEFA coefficient… Then add Leicester the champions to that list, and it realistically puts them eighth at best.

I think Celtic would be lucky to finish 10th. Where do you think they’d finish in the PL?

Good to see Brendan Rodgers hasn’t changed though!

Brendan Rodgers: Humbled on first match in charge

Celtic would be relegated if they were in the Prem. Only thing that would save them could be the home support but if its not a special night like the CL the fan’s wouldn’t be “up for it” every league game. Long away trips every other week too.

United scrape past minnows

I just dont get this Jose/Fellaini love-in. The guy is so bad he’s bringing Pogba down to his level which was awful. We definitely need yet another centre-midfielder after already spending £200m on the midfield. Thought Timothy Fosu-Mensah looked good and would put money on him being the regular RB next season.

Marouane Fellaini: Will be fit for Saturday's derby

That is what you get when you bring the likes of Fellaini, Rojo, Young and Depay back into the team. Absolute s***e. Zero creativity. What else do we expect other than slow and ponderous from a squad full of too old and bloody average players?

A manager is only as good as the players playing for him. Jose will do well to recognise that fact pretty sharpish cos the only thing these lot will get him is the sack, and nothing else.

Learn from Son

Hopefully the turnaround in form of Son at the end of last season/start of this season will encourage fans to have longer memories and also to be patient with players.

So many players can have an unimpressive season but it does not mean they are suddenly terrible players. Vertonghen and Dembele both had poor seasons a couple of years ago but fortunately we persisted with them. Chadli was excellent before last season and I dare say will show his quality again (you don’t get consistently picked for that Belgium squad unless you are a talent – well, or unless you are Fellaini!). Look at the likes of Walcott and Costa too.

I guess my point is that this year it could be the turn of Erkisen, Alli or Dier to fail to hit the heights of last year and I just want fans to remember more than the past 5 games when judging a player. Easier said than done I guess.

Daniel Sturridge: Liverpool's top striker, say fans

Sturridge’s Reds future

I like Sturridge, but he isn’t a seamless fit into our current system with a high press. Lets face it, its either him or Firmino. But how can you drop a player, playing really well for a player who might perform? He doesn’t make the clever and tireless runs like Firmino does. He cant press as cleverly or adroitly as Firmino. I’ve noticed whenever Sturridge plays, we have to adjust the system. Better to trade him in and get a player who is willing and can naturally blend his skills with our system.
