In the second installment of a brand new feature, we take a look at the football stories people were most searching on the internet for over the past seven days.

According to Bing.com, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the most searched for player through internet searches over the past seven days, his elbow on Bournemouth’s Tyrone Mings and his opponent’s earlier stamp on the Swede provng something of an search engine sensation.

The second-most popular player was his United team-mate Paul Pogba – presumably after another ordinary display – while Wayne Rooney came in at No 3. Harry Kane, who put in a brilliant two-goal performance for Spurs on Sunday was fourth – with Jamie Vardy of Leicester, fifth.

Last week, we were shocked why Sunderland’s third-choice goalkeeper Mika was in the most-searched for players – the answer of which never materialised….

When it came to football news, Leicester remain a hot topic of debate with the team’s second successive victory since the departure of Claudio Ranieri making the No 1 searched story.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic being banned for three games came in second, with Chelsea’s new stadium getting the green light by London Mayor, Sadiq Khan in at three and Sunderland’s relegation prospects fourth.

When it came to managerial search trends, Bing revealed that despite his sacking now more than a fortnight ago, Claudio Ranieri still remains the No 1 searched for boss. He’s followed by Antonio Conte (2). Jose Mourino (3), Jurgen Klopp (4) and Arsene Wenger (5).

That said, after the week Wenger has had, don’t be surprised to see the Gunners boss the highest climber next week…
