Aidy Boothroyd is still in the hunt for a goalkeeper as he seeks to finalise Northampton's squad ahead of the new season.
Teenager Dean Snedker played in Tuesday's friendly with first-choice goalkeeper Shane Higgs injured and Boothroyd is aware that Higgs's understudy is a position that still needs to be filled.
Boothroyd told BBC Radio Northampton: "I would have liked him [a goalkeeper] in on Tuesday, but I want to get the right goalkeeper.
"Getting the right characters in is of paramount importance."
He added: "We're not going to be a big squad, we're going to be a thin squad.
"That's our biggest strength and our biggest weakness because we'll have better players than we have had."
