Joel Byrom could make his return to action when Oldham host Coventry.

Midfielder Byrom, on loan from Preston, has been hampered by a hamstring injury since arriving at Boundary Park, but was on the bench at Colchester on Friday.

None of the substitutes made it on to the pitch against the U’s as the 11 players selected by manager Lee Johnson finished the match, so the Latics boss may opt to freshen up his team for a second game in three days.

Both winger James Dayton and striker Charlie MacDonald have caught Johnson’s eye in training recently and could come into the XI, but defender Genseric Kusunga (hamstring) is still out.

Coventry look likely to have an unchanged squad for the trip to Oldham.

Franck Moussa has missed the last two games with a back problem and Monday’s match will probably come too soon for the midfielder.

Dan Seaborne returned to the squad on Friday after recovering from a hamstring injury. He was an unused substitute against Swindon, but will hope to be restored to the centre of the Sky Blues defence at Boundary Park.

Coventry are five points above the relegation zone and need one more win to guarantee their Sky Bet League One status for next season.

Oldham are at full strength for the match.

Boss Paul Dickov looks set to hand Everton loanee Jose Baxter his first start for the Latics.

The 20-year-old, who scored on his debut after coming off the bench against Notts County earlier this month, can play in midfield or up front.

Fellow loan signing Matt Derbyshire, who has scored twice in three appearances since joining from Nottingham Forest, is likely to partner Cristian Montano in attack once more.

The Boundary Park outfit are looking to end a three-game winless run in the league which has seen them drop to 19th in the table, just three points above this weekend’s visitors.

Coventry welcome back David McGoldrick and Conor Henderson as they look to end their long wait for a first league win of the season.

Striker McGoldrick and midfielder Henderson were both ineligible for Wednesday night’s 6-1 Capital One Cup defeat at Arsenal.

The result may have been convincing but City – despite falling to a fifth successive defeat – can take heart from a creditable performance against a Gunners side littered with star quality.

James Bailey, Franck Moussa and Jamie Reckord all made their full debuts and could well again start at Boundary Park.

Midfielder Steven Jennings will again be assessed having missed out in midweek with the injury sustained in last weekend’s loss to Carlisle.
