Paper Talk: Blues set for Schurrle swoop

Chelsea are hoping to sign Bayer Leverkusen's Andre Schurrle and Clint Dempsey is now wanted by Sunderland.

  • Nani will be axed by Manchester United after his poor showing in Monday's defeat at Everton and he will not be offered a new deal.
  • Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo will make a £35m bid for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani and, if that fails, he will go after Porto's Hulk who is rated at £45m.
  • Manchester City have been snubbed by Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi and have been told they must pay £6m to land Swansea winger Scott Sinclair.
  • Sunderland have made a loan bid for Manchester City's 20-year-old Swedish striker John Guidetti.
  • Newcastle right-back Danny Simpson, 25, is wanted by Spanish side Espanyol after refusing to sign a new deal with the Toon.
  • Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta, 30, says Gunners fans need to give the much-changed first team time to gel.

  • Spurs are ready to allow defender Michael Dawson to join QPR for £9m - just days after claiming he would captain the club this season.
  • Striker Dimitar Berbatov has made a personal plea to Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson to let him join Fiorentina for £3m.
  • Robert Green's career as QPR's number one goalkeeper could be under threat after just one game, as Hoops manager Mark Hughes seems keen on bringing in 32-year-old former Celtic keeper and current free agent Artur Boruc.
  • Swansea claim it is "just a matter of time" before winger Scott Sinclair joins Manchester City, with Adam Johnson set to leave the champions as Liverpool, Sunderland, Spurs and Everton show an interest.
  • Meanwhile, the Swans are closing on a £3m swoop for Middlesbrough frontman Marvin Emnes.
  • Sunderland have put a £2m price tag on midfielder Kieran Richardson who wants to move back to London.
  • Crystal Palace want to take Chelsea's French winger Gael Kakuta on loan.
  • Blackburn have made a new £6m bid for Huddersfield striker Jordan Rhodes.

  • Norwich have made an improved bid of close to £1m for Blackburn keeper Mark Bunn.
  • Former Stoke striker Ricardo Fuller has turned down offers from Hull and Middlesbrough to join Charlton on a one-year deal.

  • Sunderland hope to sign striker Steven Fletcher from Wolves in time for him to face Reading on Saturday.
