Manager Darren Ferguson insists his Peterborough players are ready for their biggest home game of the season against West Ham on Saturday.

Posh head into the clash at London Road against the Championship leaders still looking for their first win of 2012.

Ferguson insists his side possess a big-game mentality and told the Evening Telegraph: "Games like this don't come any bigger for us. West Ham at home is the match that all our players would have looked for when the fixtures came out in the summer.

"They're obviously a strong side who look like they will go straight back up to the Premier League, but my players will relish the opportunity to take them on in front of a full house at London Road. We played much better last week so we can take plenty of confidence into the game.

"There's no denying it's a tough game for us. West Ham will have 5,000 fans in the ground, but we will have more so it should be a great occasion as well as a great match. My players have all performed well in big games in front of big crowds in the past. The play-offs last season are proof of that so I have no worries on that score.

"We're all looking forward to it and we'll certainly have a go at them."

Fulham full-back Matthew Briggs is hoping his loan move to Peterborough will provide him with the first-team experience he craves.

Briggs has struggled to nail down a regular place in Martin Jol's Fulham side this season, making just six appearances for the Premier League club.

The England Under-21 international, who has agreed an initial one-month stay at London Road, told Peterborough's official club website: "At Fulham I wasn't really playing much so I just wanted to get out on loan.

"I kept telling the manager every day I need to go and play games because obviously I was on the bench or not in the squad, so I just need to get experience under my belt.

"I wanted to get fitness as well and this is the perfect opportunity for me. It's a month to start with and then we can extend it afterwards if all parties agree. I would be interested in extending it if everything works out.

"I spoke to the Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson and am excited about working with him. I have watched Peterborough play many times, and obviously when he was at Preston as well, so I know what kind of manager he is, and I liked what I saw."
