I think we need to remember that the club was sinking when Mourinho took over. There were no leaders, no football men in the management team, no proper scouting set up and a mass of aging and average squad players with their foot off the gas in between managers.

Mourinho has a lot of experience and bags of ego, he knows what’s required to rebuild a club and he’s tried to address these problems from the start. He brought in top quality in Bailey, Pogba, Miki and added a stop gap striker and top leader in Zlatan for free. Looking around Europe there aren’t many top strikers available, but he convinced the board to get Lukaku, who’s probably proving he was the best option available.

If Mourinho has tried for 2 years, after Moyes and Van Gaal to try and get a reaction or improve the mentality of weak, rich players who’ve had no life experience or problems that can develop character then I’m glad he’s calling them out big time now. They can either grow a pair or be replaced by plenty of other players that are desperate to get a chance at a club like ours.

Mourinho will never play like Klopp or Pep, but out current park the bus every game style is due to a lack of quality midfielders, an unsettled defence and a lack of leaders on the pitch.

He should absolutely be given another summer transfer window to target these areas. No other manager in the world would be higher than 2nd this season and nearly every manager that has picked up a Mourinho squad has had instant success.

Like Macguffin and some of the others, I would love to have one of the old boys at Old Trafford with a team of ex-players in the coaching setup, but it would be doomed to failure without the right foundations for them to hit the ground running.
