Plymouth owner James Brent has tipped manager Carl Fletcher to be a success at Home Park.

Brent appointed Fletcher as full-time boss after taking over the League Two club in October and the London-based businessman has been impressed with the way the 31-year-old has taken to the position.

The Pilgrims are within a matter of goal difference of hauling themselves out of the relegation zone after a run of much-improved results under Fletcher, giving Brent the satisfaction he gave the job to the right man.

"I know nothing about football but I've seen some good young managers and some bad young managers outside of football and Carl's got all the attributes to be a very good manager," he said.

"To appease the fans it would have been very easy to have gone and got a name, and there were plenty of names who were throwing themselves forward.

"But whether that would have been disruptive to the team or whether it would have moved us forward, my suspicion is that we have played as well as we could with the new guys coming in and Carl clearly owns the changing room and gives a real spirit amongst the lads to do well."
