Fletcher: Impressed with Harvey

Tyler Harvey is in contention for a first-team place at Plymouth Argyle after showing his promise with a glut of goals for the youth team.

The 17-year-old striker, who will sign a professional contract next summer, has already scored 10 times for Argyle's under-18s this season and was an unused substitute for the 2-1 Johnstone's Paint Trophy victory over Aldershot.

Pilgrims boss Carl Fletcher told the Plymouth Herald: "I have said it ever since I took over, it doesn't matter how old they are. If they are doing well and deserve a chance, then they will get involved."

The former Crystal Palace midfielder watched Harvey and his team-mates beat Exeter's under-18s 3-0 in the FA Youth Cup last week thanks to two goals from the in-form frontman.

"Tyler played up front on his own and his movement is good," Fletcher said. "For both of his goals, the distance out didn't total more than four yards, I don't think, but you could see he has been a regular scorer for the youth team the way he took them.

"He was just nice and relaxed and put them away."
