Plymouth could be without Olly Lee again when they host struggling Tranmere.

The Birmingham loanee has returned to his parent club for treatment on a groin injury that forced him out of the defeat at Carlisle and the midfielder may not feature again before his loan spell at Home Park comes to an end.

Lee Cox suffered a recurrence of a quad muscle during training this week and joins Lee on the sidelines as Argyle look to secure the final League Two play-off spot.

Reuben Reid looks set to keep his place once more despite struggling with a foot injury in recent weeks.

Bottom side Tranmere have been dealt a huge blow with the news Danny Holmes may miss the first game of the post-Micky Adams era.

Rovers, who prop up the division ahead of their final two tricky contests against the Pilgrims and Bury, parted ways with Adams on Sunday after one win in 13 left them staring directly at non-league football.

Alan Rogers and Shaun Garnett will oversee affairs for the final pair of games and could be without Holmes after he left training on Thursday on crutches having injured his ankle.

Midfielder Rob Taylor is another who will miss out due to an ankle problem, while Marcus Holness (knee) has already been ruled out for the season.

Plymouth boss Peter Reid will again be without Jim Paterson, Onismor Bhasera and Yala Bolasie.

Paterson missed the defeats to Yeovil and Brentford as he was on compassionate leave and will be absent again, although he will return to training on Monday.

Bhasera is making good progress in his rehabilitation from a knee problem but the game will come too soon for him while Bolasie will sit out the second game of a three-match ban following his sending-off against Yeovil on February 1 for an off-the-ball incident.

However, top scorer Joe Mason is set to continue in attack after getting through his comeback from an ankle injury against Brentford unscathed.

The Pilgrims will be attempting to end a run of four successive league defeats.

Tranmere boss Les Parry has been handed a triple injury boost.

Tim Cathalina, Alan Mahon and Zoumana Bakayogo all played 90 minutes for the reserves in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Liverpool in midweek.

The trio’s return to fitness has encouraged hopes that they will be available to play some part against the Pilgrims.

Winger Andy Robinson is nursing a slight calf strain, but Parry said: “That looks like it’s going to be okay.”

However, midfielder Ryan Fraughan has damaged medial ligaments in his knee and will be out for around six weeks.

Rovers have extended the loan of Lateef Elford-Alliyu from West Brom by one month meaning the 18-year-old striker will stay at Prenton Park until early March.
