Port Vale manager Micky Adams insists he remains the right man to revive the League Two's flagging fortunes.
"This is a fantastic football club which needs a bit of stability. The sooner it comes the better, but it will be back," Adams said. "We're having a tough time at the moment but I still maintain I'm the right man to lead the club towards to bigger and better things. I will continue to work as hard as possible to achieve that."
The defeat to the Dons proved too much for the 200 or so fans who held a post-match protest against the club's board outside Vale Park's main entrance. With no money available to spend on strengthening his injury-hit squad, Adams too could have easily deflected his woes on to the board.
Instead, he added: "We could all hide behind the demonstrations but we've got to be bigger and better than that. It's tough but I have experienced the highs and the lows of management before. You have to understand why things are happening in and around the club, but not get involved with it.
"When the eyes of Burslem are on you, you've got to stand up and be counted. I'll certainly do that because I'm not going to hide away and make excuses. You've just got to have that belief in yourself and the club. I've got great faith in this club."
