Portsmouth boss Michael Appleton will not stand in the way of Sam Magri if the teenager impresses on trial at Liverpool this week.
Magri, a 17-year-old defender, is spending a week with the Premier League giants and Appleton believes it presents him with an excellent opportunity to land a permanent deal on Merseyside.
He told The News: "His agent rang me on Friday night and asked if there was a possibility and I said yes.
"I was quite happy. I don't want to step in and stop somebody having an opportunity like that.
"You want to keep your younger players around, but when a club like Liverpool comes in you have to look at it.
"I don't want to stand in the way of a lad having an opportunity of joining a Premier League club."
