Tony Cottee believes Everton have the "potential" to finish fourth in the Premier League this season - and wants Michael Owen to join them.

Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports News Radio presenter Chris Cooper, Toffees legend Cottee revels in Everton's superb opening win over Manchester United.

Although he admits United 'never got going' and struggled with Michael Carrick at centre-back, Cottee feels David Moyes deserves praise for getting his players to fly out of the blocks, having previously been slow starters.

He feels Patrice Evra was 'poor' but lauds United debutant Shinji Kagawa, as well as pouring praise on match-winner Marouane Fellaini.

Cottee believes the win could be a springboard for a tilt at a top-four spot, but his optimism is not shared by TEAMtalk.com readers, who voted on Tuesday's poll, with over 50 per cent feeling they'll finish just outside the top six.

And the Sky Sports pundit has urged Moyes to spend some of the money earned from the sale of Jack Rodwell to lure former Liverpool striker Michael Owen to Goodison Park, with the former England forward currently without an employer having been released by United.
