Sir Alex Ferguson: Could welcome back Welbeck and Young

Danny Welbeck and Ashley Young could return for Manchester United's visit of West Brom after missing the Boxing Day thriller against Newcastle.

Striker Welbeck and winger Young missed out through illness and injury respectively but could be back available for manager Sir Alex Ferguson against the Baggies.

Wayne Rooney (knee) and Phil Jones miss out and veterans Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes are expected to be rested.

Shinji Kagawa could return on the bench as he closes on a return from a knee problem.

West Brom manager Steve Clarke has a trio of fresh injury doubts ahead of the trip to Old Trafford.

Defenders Jonas Olsson (groin) and Goran Popov (hamstring) and midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu (hamstring) all sustained injuries during the Boxing Day win at QPR.

Another midfielder in Claudio Yacob (hamstring) remains sidelined and as a result Albion have recalled George Thorne from a loan spell at Peterborough.
