Preston chairman Peter Ridsdale has dismissed speculation linking Mike Grella with a move to Deepdale.
Grella left Bury this week after accepting terms from an as yet unnamed club and some rumours suggested the 25-year-old American striker might be poised to become Graham Westley's 12th signing of the summer.
But Ridsdale told the Lancashire Evening Post: "Grella is not a player who we have been looking at. I don't know where that one has come from."
Meanwhile, Westley is pleased to have added some much-needed balance to his group after acquiring a clutch of left-sided players.
Paul Parry is no longer the only natural left footer in the North End squad, with Scott Laird, David Buchanan, Lee Holmes and Shane Cansdell-Sherriff having joined in recent weeks.
Westley said: "Having so few left-sided players meant the team was lop-sided. We've got some very good competition down that side of the pitch now."
