Derby v Peterborough preview

Friday 27-April-2012 11:19

Injury will end Frank Fielding's run of 39 consecutive appearances in goal for Derby.

Fielding suffered a groin strain during the victory at Portsmouth last weekend and was replaced at half-time by Adam Legzdins, who on Saturday will make only his second start for the Rams since joining the club from Burton last summer.

Defenders Jake Buxton and John Brayford are also nursing knocks following the Pompey game.

"Jake got a couple of knocks and kicks. He got a stud on his ankle and his back is a bit stiff," said manager Nigel Clough. "With John, we thought it was his thigh but it was actually his ankle."

Paul Green, who is set to leave Derby this summer after rejecting the club's offer of a new contract, was left out of the first-team squad last weekend and the midfielder will be omitted from the 16 again for the final game of the season.

Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson could give some of the club's up and coming young players another chance to impress in the final game.

Teenagers Kgosi Nthle and Charlie Coulson were handed an opportunity as Posh drew their final home game of the campaign 2-2 against Watford last weekend.

Nthle, 18, played the entire second half at left-back, while 16-year-old Coulson was sent on for the last 10 minutes in an attacking midfield role. Youth-team captain Peter Grant, also 18, was an unused substitute.

There is a strong possibility that the trio could be involved again on Saturday.

Emile Sinclair is a major doubt with an ankle injury while David Hibbert is also sidelined.

Gaby Zakuani will play despite the defender nursing a broken toe and a dislocated shoulder.
