The 36-year-old striker, who joined Orient from the Grecians in the summer, has struggled to nail down a place in the starting line-up at the Matchroom Stadium - making just 10 starts all season.
Cureton netted 20 times for the Devon outfit last term, scooping the club's Player of the Year award in the process, but his return was only assured thanks to the backing of one of Exeter's local business partners, Follett Stock.
The solicitors stepped in to help fund the move with finances tight at St James' Park.
