Final flourish delights Dickov

Sunday 06-May-2012 16:21

The Latics ended an eight-game winless streak with James Tarkowski's first league goal and an Oumare Tounkara header sealing the points either side of Tom Taiwo's strike.

Dickov said: "We were desperate to finish with a win because we have let the fans down too often this season, especially at home.

"I know the season hasn't been good enough, and I include myself in that, and now I'll be looking to get a different structure in place to make sure we do better.

"The nucleus we have is good enough to be higher up the table and it's promising for the club that so many of them are young lads. There were a lot of them out there and their performance bodes well for the future.

"In one sense the pressure was off but they still had to go out and express themselves and win the game. They are assets to the club so hopefully we can keep them all and add some of the players I'll be trying to bring in during the summer."
