Wimbledon v Aldershot preview

Friday 27-January-2012 12:17

AFC Wimbledon will check on George Moncur ahead of the match.

The on-loan West Ham midfielder started Tuesday night's 2-1 win over Macclesfield but had to come off midway through the first half as he was suffering from a bronchial problem.

The Dons are also waiting on the results of a scan on Jason Euell's ankle injury but fellow striker Jason Prior will be added to the squad after completing his move from non-league Bognor Regis on Thursday.

Winger Kieran Djilali is the only other absentee with a hamstring problem - he could be back early next month.

Manager Terry Brown and his coaching staff were in charge at Aldershot for five years.

Meanwhile, manager Dean Holdsworth will be forced into at least one change as Aldershot aim to end a six-match run without a goal.

Midfielder Luke Guttridge on Thursday parted ways with the Hampshire club by mutual consent, meaning Josh Payne may come in for his full debut having also extended his loan stay from Oxford until the end of the season.

New signing Guy Madjo was unable to find the net for the goal-shy Shots during his debut in last weekend's stalemate against Accrington, although he is again set to lead the line alongside Danny Hylton.

Striker Michael Rankine (leg) and midfielder Alex Rodman (viral infection) have both been ruled out for the rest of the campaign, while defender Chris Doig has left the club after his short-term agreement reached an end.

Aldershot boss Holdsworth is set to get a warm greeting from home fans at Kingsmeadow having made his name as a player for Wimbledon in the 1990s, while current Dons boss Terry Brown can also look forward to a rousing reception from the away end having enjoyed a successful spell in charge of the Shots between 2002-2007.
