Swindon v Cheltenham preview

Friday 09-March-2012 15:32

Swindon will be without captain Paul Caddis for their clash.

The right-back had a scan on an ankle on Thursday to assess the damage sustained during the Robins' 4-0 victory over Dagenham in midweek and, while the results showed the injury was not as bad as first feared, the Scot will not be fit to feature on Saturday.

Otherwise, Swindon have no new injury or suspension worries ahead of the top-of-the-table match-up.

Defender Aden Flint continues to be sidelined with a groin problem. The towering centre-back is progressing well in his recovery but he will not be making a comeback in the next few weeks.

Luke Rooney is likely to return to the starting line-up after dropping to the bench for the win against the Daggers. The winger could replace Raffaele De Vita in manager Paolo Di Canio's XI.

Meanwhile, Cheltenham manager Mark Yates has a fully-fit and suspension-free squad at his disposal for the top-of-the-table clash.

Yates had been sweating over the fitness of experienced centre-back Steve Elliott because of a foot injury, but the defender has been passed fit to play and is expected to start against the league leaders at the County Ground.

Elliott is set to come into the starting line-up in place of Keith Lowe, who deputised during the 3-1 defeat at Morecambe in midweek, while Jimmy Spencer and Jeff Goulding will both be hoping for recalls after coming off the bench at the Globe Arena.

Cheltenham are looking to do the double over their Wiltshire rivals, having beaten Paolo Di Canio's men 1-0 at Whaddon Road in August.
