QPR midfielder Adel Taarabt is happy to stay at Loftus Road and believes manager Mark Hughes' arrival means a 'new start' for him.

Taarabt admitted last month he would probably have left the West London club had Neil Warnock still been in charge throughout the January transfer window.

The Morocco international started Saturday's defeat to Wolves after returning from Africa Cup of Nations duty.

Despite the visitors triumphing 2-1 after the hosts had Djibril Cisse dismissed, Hughes was impressed with Taarabt's performance.

And the feeling is clearly mutual as, revealing he had a meeting with Hughes last week, Taarabt told QPR player: "He's a great manager.

"He told me, 'You're a fantastic player and I am here to get you on the ball and we want to play football'.

"The last couple of months was disappointing for me because I didn't show what I know I can do.

"But now, a new manager and a new start for me."
