Rochdale manager John Coleman is hoping to add some more firepower to his revamped squad "in the next couple of weeks".

Coleman, who has so far signed Rhys Bennett, Peter Cavanagh, George Donnelly and Josh Lillis since the end of the season, is also hoping midfielder Joe Thompson signs his new contract, while defender Brian Barry-Murphy has agreed a new one-year deal.

"Players that we earlier identified [will join on Sunday] and hopefully we'll have more in the next couple of weeks," Coleman told the club's official website.

"We need more attacking options and those are targets that we're trying to identify and chase after. I think the fans may have been dismayed when the released list came out and they didn't see too many changes. But by the time we kick-off the season we might only have six or seven who were here from last season.

"We've got our own ideas about what we want from the players and the playing staff, and we have a clear defiant ethos on football and we'll try to stamp that this year."

Of the five players from last season's squad offered new contracts, only Thompson has yet to make a decision and Coleman added: "We'll sit down with Joe again on Monday and see what the situation entails."
