Striker Brett Williams has returned to Reading after completing his five-month loan at Rotherham.
The 24-year-old, who was part of the deal that saw Adam Le Fondre join the Royals in August, had the first few months of his loan stay wiped out by injury before regaining fitness to make 13 appearances for the Millers.
Boss Andy Scott had spoke about trying to extend his deal, but he has since decided to look elsewhere.
"He was mainly featuring from the bench and from our point of view we felt we needed someone who was going to push our front two a bit more," Scott told the club's official website.
"They are happy for him to go back and they are looking to get him on loan to somewhere he will play more regularly.
"We appreciate the fact Reading loaned him to us in the first place, he was great to have around the place and we wish him well for the future."
