Rotherham will not be following up their discussions with free agents Ashley Vincent and Lionel Ainsworth.

Millers boss Steve Evans admitted to making enquires over the wing duo, who left Colchester and Shrewsbury respectively at the end of last season.

And the Scot revealed the move for Vincent was scuppered duo to the player's wage demands.

"Ashley was one of the first players we spoke to, but his terms made a deal unrealistic," Evans told Rotherham's official website.

"Sometimes people get a little carried away thinking that we are spending lots of money, but I think I said it last week that we are spending less on the budget than we did last year.

"Lionel was also a young man that we spoke to, but that looks like something that won't be happening."
