Rangers assistant manager Kenny McDowall is hoping for a double injury boost ahead of this weekend's visit to Berwick Rangers.

Striker Francisco Sandaza (thigh) and defender Ross Perry (hamstring) are both back in training after injury and could be back in contention for Saturday's Irn-Bru Third Division clash.

The duo have been out of action since the William Hill Scottish Cup defeat to Dundee United at Tannadice on February 2.

McDowall hopes their return to action will provide a timely boost for the Light Blues, who have been stretched through injury recently.

He told the club's website: "Fran and Ross have both been working at the tail end of last week so they are back running.

"We are hopeful we might get one or two additions to the squad because it is fairly tight.

"Last week we were operating with 16 because we had six injuries.

"So we are hopeful those two will join the squad again this weekend."

Meanwhile, skipper Lee McCulloch is currently seeing a specialist about the "bone bruising" in his ankle.

The club's top goalscorer has been out of action since the 1-1 draw with Elgin City on January 5.
