Gary Megson is singing the praises of Chris O'Grady after the striker helped Sheffield Wednesday edge Scunthorpe 3-1 on Tuesday.
O'Grady scored two goals in the opening 17 minutes at Glanford Park to secure the Owls' first win in three games. The win gets their hopes of automatic promotion from League One back on track, moving them level on points with Huddersfield and city rivals Sheffield United.
"Chris has never been a prolific scorer," Megson said. "Sometimes people have raised an eyebrow at him for not scoring enough goals.
"It's normally the players alongside him who are the top scorers because of the work he does for them. Normally Chris doesn't get the credit he deserves, but in this game he did and was unlucky not to go on and complete his hat-trick."
Megson added: "After our previous two results, this was a great win for us. It brings us level on points with two of the teams above us in the table. But I was disappointed with the way we conceded a goal.
"It meant that the victory was not as easy for us as it should have been. I keep stressing to the players that it's little things that can make such a massive difference to what we are trying to achieve."
