Midfielder Aaron Wildig has extended his loan spell at League Two outfit Shrewsbury until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old has spent two months in Shropshire after initially making the temporary move to the club from Cardiff in November, and has started three times for the Shrews.
Wildig has not featured in Shrewsbury's last six outings but manager Graham Turner insists he can play a big part in the club's promotion push.
He told the club's official website: "He's got good ability, a good appreciation of the game of football. He sees a pass and generally executes it quite well.
"He started for us at Newport in the FA Cup, he was in the side that beat Northampton 7-2 and then in the side which beat Morecambe, but unfortunately towards the end of that game he picked up an injury and he's not had a look-in since.
"Lionel Ainsworth's been in there, Jon Taylor more recently, and Aaron's a different sort of player but one that can add something between now and the end of the season. He wants to stay and he wants to prove he's good enough for a permanent contract."
