Graham Turner saluted his comeback kings after the Shrews fought back to beat Rotherham 3-1 and move a step closer to promotion.

Ryan Cresswell headed the Millers into a second-minute lead but Shrewsbury, now unbeaten at the Greenhous Meadow for 30 games, refused to panic and were given a massive lift when Terry Gornell fired them level on the stroke of half-time. Aaron Wildig and Gornell then weighed in after the restart to lift the Shrews up to second place in the table.

"One of the features this season has been the character in the side. Occasionally it's been when we've been down to 10 men that we've had to come from behind," said Turner. "This has been another endorsement of the character we've got in the side."

Turner was delighted the three points bolstered his side's position in the promotion race, but insisted no one was getting carried away despite fellow high-fliers Torquay and Crawley both dropping points.

"We've had a quick look at the other results. We've got to do our own thing but obviously it helps if points are dropped elsewhere. It just eases our situation," Turner added. "Come Monday morning this game will be forgotten and we'll just be concentrating on getting another three points at home to Port Vale on Tuesday night.

"It's getting close, the players sense that, and what we've got to do is keep the whole situation calm, keep encouraging them to play and not letting them get uptight about anything. They look as though they're handling the situation very well."
