Shrewsbury are on the brink of League Two promotion but manager Graham Turner is still refusing to take anything for granted.
A long-range special from midfielder Matt Richards early in the second half almost secured promotion for Shrews at the weekend.
The experienced manager was delighted with his second-placed side's display as they saw off local rivals Port Vale 1-0 in an entertaining derby at the Greenhous Meadow.
They could now clinch promotion if they win at Accrington on Saturday and either Torquay or Crawley lose their matches.
"We seem nice and fresh and there doesn't seem to be too much of a problem as far as any fatigue," Turner said. "We look full of energy and we've just got to take it up to Accrington on Saturday and see whether we can get the three points there and see how close we are then.
"We'll get excited when we've finally done it. I've seen many teams come unstuck at the last hurdle and I'm very guarded against that. We need to keep the players steady, their feet on the floor. There's hard work at Accrington to get the three points and if it is achieved on Saturday for us that would be terrific, but we might have to wait a little bit longer.
"The important thing is we're not there yet. We've got to make sure we do it first and then we'll celebrate."
