Bryan Hughes' goal denied Shrewsbury a promotion party after a 1-1 draw at Accrington, much to the frustration of manager Graham Turner.

The second-placed Shrews had looked on course for a promotion-clinching three points as results went their way elsewhere.

But veteran Stanley midfielder Hughes scored a late equaliser to cancel out Terry Gornell's opener, meaning the Shrews need two points from their final two games to secure promotion.

"We are disappointed as it would have been nice to do it on Saturday," said Turner. "We did look a bit nervous and we conceded a lot of chances, more than I would have expected, but with other results it does look a good point now.

"We have two games to go and we are five points clear and we would have certainly taken that at the start of the season. We wanted to get it done but we are still in a great position. We struggled in the final third, there was no precision or sharpness, but that's what nerves do for you.

"The players are a bit flat in the dressing room but we have got to think about where we are and go to Dagenham and get the points we need but we are not taking anything for granted."
