Shrewsbury are set for a record attendance at the Greenhous Meadow on Saturday after tickets sold out for their clash against Dagenham.

Town go into the home encounter knowing victory will clinch a top-three finish and third-tier football for the first time since 1997, while a draw or even defeat may be enough based on results elsewhere.

Over 9,000 Shrewsbury supporters have got their hands on a ticket, meaning the Shropshire club's previous highest gate of 8,817 against Oxford on the final day of last season is set to be eclipsed.

Shrewsbury club secretary Jayne Bebb said: "The response from Shrewsbury fans has been fantastic. We always knew there would be a high demand for tickets and it is great for the team to know there will be a big crowd behind them.

"We were pleased to reach agreement with both Dagenham and the Football League to allow Shrewsbury supporters to be admitted to the North Stand, usually reserved for away fans, for the first time and the last of the tickets were sold earlier this morning (Tuesday).

"It underlines the level of excitement among Shrewsbury Town supporters and everyone is now looking forward to Saturday."
