Olly doubt for Shrimps league clash

The centre-half was forced off after just 18 minutes of last weekend’s goalless draw at Shrewsbury with a hamstring problem.

Manager Neil Woods is confident he was able to replace Lancashire before any real damage was done but his chances of making a recovery ahead of Friday’s game are slim.

“I think we got him off in time. We’ll give it a chance to settle and try and manage it properly but it’s looking doubtful he’ll be ready,” said Woods. “He had a problem with the hamstring in his other leg recently and we think it’s more to do with a lower back problem.”

Joe Widdowson’s return to fitness after a foot injury could prove timely. The defender, along with striker Nathan Jarman, travelled to Shrewsbury but were not included in the matchday squad.

Either Widdowson or Nicky Featherstone, Lancashire’s replacement at the New Meadow, will start should Lancashire miss out. Jarman could also be included after regaining fitness following a broken metatarsal.
