Is Lallana s..t? Discuss!
January 17, 2016 at 3:54 pm #799424This club will never progress whilst we rely on a limp, weak performer like Adam Lallane who only ever flatters to deceive.
January 17, 2016 at 3:56 pm #799430Offered very little again Spodge. I know Sean’s asked why so many good players come here and then don’t deliver. His track record bode well in terms of fighting up through the leagues with Southampton. But when he made it, did he take his foot off the gas somewhat? Was there something in it when Clattenburg allegedly said “you’ve changed since playing for England”??
January 17, 2016 at 3:56 pm #799442Spodge I’ve said it many times, other players get absolutely chastised on here but he gets away with a lot.
It isn’t that he’s a bad player just no end product whatsoever ….
But you really have to question Klopp as well, the game isn’t all about runners and high press, he hasn’t done a great job with Benteke in my opinion and should just sell him as he clearly doesn’t want him in his style of football.
January 17, 2016 at 4:01 pm #799475Lallana should not be in our front 3, zero end product!!
We’re a team of midfielders who don’t score much.January 17, 2016 at 4:03 pm #799493Bob: It’s easy for us to just say sell Benteke but who would buy him given wages and all. Same applies to Balo.
January 17, 2016 at 4:06 pm #799502No end product is the nail on the head. Our Attack is toothless enough as it is and giving up a slot for him isn’t helping our cause. I fail to see what he offers us as we have enough grafters in the side. I think people tend to forget he was bought as a replacement for Suarez. He cost us 26mil. We’d be lucky to get 1/2 that money back. A signing that epitomises everything we’re not doing right. No quality but lots of running which hasn’t helped at either end of the pitch.
January 17, 2016 at 4:10 pm #799514Kopite, u could easily sell Benteke regardless of his wages, yes we wouldn’t get the full money back but what would you rather he sits there week after week and then comes on for the last few minutes.
A ridiculous situation.
January 17, 2016 at 4:10 pm #799517Good lad but sadly, no definite position for him; a better fit he was when he was with the Saints.
January 17, 2016 at 4:33 pm #799610If Lallana could finish he would be worth 25 million, he can’t, yet he is fancied by the manager. Benteke can score but is not fancied by the manager (or many supporters???). Klopp got it wrong today, Benteke & Allen came up with the goods at the end against Arsenal & deserved a start. Lallana should have been benched for this match & who knows if he might have delivered with nothing to lose coming on late?
January 17, 2016 at 4:38 pm #799628As well as Lallana, I’d have most of the English players on the bench at best. I think Lallana is the person behind all the crop circles you see up and down the country. He just goes round and round in circles with zero end product. Milner is an honest grafter but seems to spend most of the game sliding along the grass on his backside. Again, no end product…Hendo really gets on my nerves. As a leader, he is the biggest coward and hides through most of the match. The way he ducks out of headers infuriates the life out of me and he is so passive, it’s unreal. Such average players it’s no surprise we are midtable – we are packed with midtable players…
For the first time, I will criticise Klopp though. Looking at the line up, most fans could see that there was little pace or goals in that set up. And although I also don’t rate Benteke, I think he is more likely to score than any of the top 3 starters today. Similarly, Ibe has more pace and takes the game to the opposition unlike any of the 3 starters today…
There’s nothing worse than a loss to ManU. Im totally pissed and can only hope that the fact it’s happened in January, may speed up a positive transfer or two…Peace
January 17, 2016 at 4:43 pm #799643Now that coutinho and all our strikers are injured surely klopp has to accommodate benteke in the team as hes the only goalscorer we have left.
January 17, 2016 at 4:49 pm #799661Lallana was better than Hendo and Can.
Hendo messed so much up, slowed things down too often and kept taking us into corners.
Milner was much more effective cos he never stopped and didn’t hesitate on anything.
Firmino was good but lacked quality around him – he really missed Coutinho’s ability to match his movement.
We just have too many midfielders who aren’t quite wingers.January 17, 2016 at 4:49 pm #799664One would hope so
January 17, 2016 at 4:54 pm #799682Our closest effort on goal was outside the box from Can & it took a world class save from De Gea to keep it out. Lallana had our best chance against De Gea off his line & couldn’t dink his header over him… Henderson did have a poor game & is not the replacement we need for Gerrard
January 17, 2016 at 5:11 pm #799724Lallana just hasn’t cut the Mustard for Us,Very poor return for a £20 Million player, 5 Cruyff turns per Match isn’t going to win many plaudits.
January 17, 2016 at 5:52 pm #799802Lallana was terrible, no end product.
But to be fair, Klopp has to take some of the blame as I said previously.
We need goals, what do we expect playing Lucas, Milner, Can, Henderson in the same team. All good players in their own right but none are clinical. Sorry but I dont know what Klopp was expecting.
Fair play to Firmino though he played well again and was the only one to look to have any incisiveness.
If Benteke isnt going to get more than 10 mins in a game like this then the writing is on the wall.
January 17, 2016 at 6:05 pm #799838The most disappointing side of Lallana’s game is that there’s just been very little goals from him. I remember one scored at Anfield last season but that was it.
A more fundamental problem (bit like Swansea), is when you don’t have the luxury in top strikers (in the first place), you question where the goals will then come from and you turn to your attacking midfielders.
Firmino and Lallana are relatively at the same level; can run at defenders, deliver a pass and present opportunities, but not a great deal beyond.
One player however capable with drive and a goal from the middle of the park is James Milner, but it seems we’ve inherited a player a little over the hill (in that department) and somebody more summoned to have to get his hands dirty in defensive duties.
January 17, 2016 at 6:17 pm #799859Lallana is a good player, but not good enough for Liverpool FC. And as I said when we first buoght him, he was definitely not worth 25m, and is now worth around 10m, based on his current performances.
Do not get me wrong, he is not a bad player, and would fit in perfectly at teams like Swansea or Southampton (no disrespect btw), but he is not the calibre of player we need to take Liverpool up to the next level
January 17, 2016 at 6:34 pm #799898In my opinion, Lallana is a niche kind of player.
He works hard, presses quick, has a good final ball, a good strike, and very good at controlling the ball, and disguising his touch in a way not many can do.
On to the bad… he only seems to have one pace with the ball it his feet – slow, his gentle precise touches work well in one-on-one situations, but is nullified whenever he has two players watching him, which is usually the case on the wings, his confidence is at rock bottom.
However, in my opinion, he could offer something in the position he played at Southampton and plays for England – central midfield.
