Paul Sturrock threatened a complete overhaul of his Southend side after witnessing a 2-0 home defeat to Rotherham in League Two.

The Shrimpers have seen their automatic promotion hopes dented by taking one point from their last four matches. A debut goal from loan signing Shaun Harrad after nine minutes gave Rotherham the perfect start and former Southend striker Alex Revell made sure of the points in the 83rd minute.

"The players seem to think they know better now and they're not doing what I ask of them," he said.

"In our next game I will pick 11 boys who listen to what I say and the others will be sat on the bench or in the stands.

"The second half was just completely unacceptable and the players need to look at themselves.

"This was a chance for us to go top of the league but we're now well down the pecking order and we will have to go on a real run to make the top three."
