Paul Sturrock is desperate to settle on a stable starting team as Southend try to kickstart their season.
The Shrimpers have endured problems with injuries and suspensions in League Two this term as they bid to improve upon last year's play-off semi-final exit to Crewe.
Consistency has been lacking over the first third of the campaign, with back-to-back league wins achieved only once and just one victory in the last seven matches leaving Southend outside the top half.
"We just can't get a settled side together and that's causing us problems," Sturrock said.
"The teams at the top don't seem to be making any changes but we're having people coming in and out of the team and we need to try and stop that now."
