Rochdale v Swindon preview

Rochdale manager Keith Hill is unlikely to make major changes for the visit of Swindon.

Dale are just four points outside the play-off places as they look to secure back-to-back promotions, and any changes for Hill are likely to be tactical rather than changes of personnel.

The manager played around with his defenders during the draw at Doncaster on Saturday, with Michael Rose, Joe Rafferty and Andy Cannon switching positions throughout the game.

Rafferty could be vulnerable should Hill make a change, while Matty Lund is pushing for an inclusion after a long spell on the sidelines, along with Ollie Lancashire (ankle) and Scott Tanser (calf), plus striker Joe Bunney (groin).

Swindon will be without three suspended players when they make the trip north.

Raphel Branco will miss the second of his five-match ban after being found guilty of violent conduct in the defeat to Bristol City where he also picked up his 10th yellow card of the season and he is joined on the sidelines by Yaser Kasim, who completes his two-match suspension, and Jordan Turnbull who reached double figures for yellows on Saturday.

But the Robins will be boosted by the return of their captain Nathan Thompson after his ban and the defender will step back into the starting line-up.

His brother Louis remains out with a shoulder injury but Michael Smith should shake off a minor knee problem and start alongside Andy Williams.

Rochdale v Swindon preview

Rochdale boss Keith Hill will hand a debut to on-loan striker Bobby Grant.

The 20-year-old, who can also play on the wing, has signed from Scunthorpe until January after finding first-team chances hard to come by at Glanford Park.

Hill said: “Bobby’s a player we’ve admired for quite a while. He’s been involved for Scunthorpe this season, albeit mainly off the bench.

“It’s not one I’d expect to be able to make permanent, because he’s highly regarded at Scunthorpe.

“They’ve let him come to us because he’s not getting much football and he wants to play.”

Hill has no injury or suspension concerns to contend with as his side bid to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.

Danny Wilson will give a number of Swindon players as much time as possible to prove their fitness.

Full-back Kevin Amankwaah (knee), striker Vincent Pericard (groin), goalkeeper David Lucas (shoulder) and midfielder Simon Ferry (ankle) will all be assessed ahead of the Spotland clash.

Should none of the quartet make it then it is likely Wilson will stick with the same XI who claimed a 2-1 victory over Colchester last weekend.

Skipper Jonathan Douglas returned from his toe injury to line up in midfield, making his first appearance in almost a month.

Striker Thomas Dossevi opened the scoring against the U’s to register his third goal since arriving over the summer, and he has opted to represent Town this weekend ahead of international action with Togo.

On-loan centre-back Andy Frampton (ankle) is making good progress with his rehabilitation back at Millwall and could possibly even be available for Tuesday’s encounter against Notts County.
