Torquay boss Martin Ling was delighted with his side as they beat Morecambe 1-0 thanks to Danny Stevens' 30th minute winner.
Stevens latched on to a through ball down the left to sidefoot the ball beyond the reach of diving Shrimps keeper Barry Roche and in off the inside of the post.
It was the highlight of a dour game following Torquay's 2-1 win over table-topping Gillingham at Plainmoor.
"I have got to admit today wasn't great and Danny Stevens' goal was the highlight," Ling said.
"Billy Bodin did well to draw the centre half out and Danny did well to stick it away with his left foot. It certainly didn't go in with any great venom but it was well placed, going in off the inside of the far post.
"We are up to seventh, got those back to back league wins for the first time since last March, and so scrappy as it may have been it was another important home win to keep the run here going."
