Everton midfielder James Wallace has joined Tranmere Rovers on a one-month loan deal.
The 20-year-old has already had spells with Shrewsbury and Stevenage this year, although he returned to Merseyside without playing a game for Boro earlier this week.
Last season, Wallace spent time with Bury and Stockport and will now add another north west club to his CV.
"I know our priority has been a striker, but we've also been looking for another midfielder," Rovers boss Les Parry told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"James is a little bit of a character, he's not shy. I'm sure he'll have the desired effect on and off the pitch.
"Fresh faces are important and bringing players in on loan gives the place a lift. But of course, our priority is bringing in a striker. We're trying everything we can."
