Ronnie Moore admitted Tranmere's 1-1 draw against Hartlepool was not a classic, and the visitor's gameplan played out as they had hoped.

Skipper John Welsh fired the Merseysiders in front from a Lucas Akins cross in the 40th minute only for Antony Sweeney to equalise in the 69th minute with a good finish after a neat passing move.

Rovers finished with 10 men after the sending-off of goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams in the 71st minute for a trip on Ryan Noble

"It is not a match which will be going down in my archives. Hartlepool came here to stifle us and we were naive," said Moore. "To be honest I could not really see them scoring but we conceded in a stupid way. It needed someone to make the tackle and they failed to do so. We have got to do better than that".

Moore felt the sending-off of his goalkeeper was a bit harsh but admitted: "We had a bit of luck in that the referee did not give a penalty. But the whole game was sloppy and that disappointed me.

"We want to finish as high as we can and with as many points as we can. But, to be fair, we dug deep when we had to at the end. But overall we should have won by a comfortable margin and we have only ourselves to blame for that."
