I have to say and I’m not going to mix my words but anytime I see this player on the pitch wearing a red shirt it feels me with disguise and hatred. I know hatred is a strong word but he is really annoying me as I can see the level he is at and shows no signs of improving. Now, I know he is probably a good lad, a nice guy in the real life. But, as a football playing for my beloved club really hurts me and makes me sad. I really can’t take anymore. Please please do the honourable thing and find yourself a different club in the summer.

This will probably not get posted but that’s how I feel anyway. Your thoughts?

I think that’s too harsh red lion…he is invaluable as a squad player…imo in the past three seasons he has come in and given enough number of good performances to warrant a place in the squad…it’s his decision to see whether he is happy with his playing time…having said all that if Klopp feels the need to raise money to get a top quality CM who can get into the first 11 from the off we may have to sell him but I for one won’t be glad to see the back of him

Every team needs good squad players who are happy to come off the bench and do a job, for us that’s Allen. He shouldn’t really be judged by his transfer fee, he had no say or control over that figure. He’s been an influence in important games for us this year. He’s no super star and never will be but he’s happy to do what’s asked, he’s a Liverpool player, doesn’t complain and deserves our support. Can see him moving in the next few transfer windows if places even on the bench get more competitive but would wish him well.

Jeez Lion I think that’s a bit harsh. I don’t want to see him in the starting team, esp for important games but he’s a decent squad player. As long as he’s willing to play in the cups & come off the bench most of the time I’d be happy to keep him around.
All that said I don’t think he’ll be at Anfield next season.

I’d much rather have a Joe Allen, than a over-hyped, overpaid, egotistical primadonna.

We know his limitations and he will frustrate us, but he has some experience behind him and for me he’s definitely good as a squad player and an impact sub – much improved too this season.

I think Allen has improved during the Klopp reign but I would still want a upgrade for him, I don´t think its enough to be starting 10-15 games a season when you are 26 years old.

I agree with Number8. I think Klopp will sell him in the summer(rumours about Swansea possibly a destination for him). He simply doesn’t play enough games. He hasn’t justified the price we paid for him,and if we get a reasonable offer (I’d say £10m+),he’ll be sold

Sell him but hatred, strong words. He has some good games but isn’t consistent. Not a bad player just not good enough for a team with our aspirations for next season.

But he does spare a lot of his spare time helping re-home chickens that have come to the end of their commercial egg-laying life. That’s good enough for me.

I don’t see him being here next season and he has performed pretty well in recent months but “disgust and hatred”?!?!?!

Fuck sake mate, it’s a Friday, the suns shining and we’re in a European final.
    Chill out!

There are definitely better players out there but Allen is a great player to have on the bench. He seems better off the bench as maybe he is able to study the game from the bench and he comes on and takes advantage of the observations. He tends to help with shape and recycles the ball a lot efficiently when we need it.

He might yet be our saviour and score the winning goal in the EL final!
I’ll be particularly interested to see how he performs for Wales at Euro 2016 at a top level. He’s improved lots since Klopp got hold if him but can see him going back to Swansea although he deserves a better manager than BR if he does.
He’s played well in patches but sometimes lacks the physicality of someone like Can even though Allen has good technical ability.

He’s not a world beater. But we all know the Xavi comparison and £15m price tag did him no favours, without those we may have all looked at him differently and appreciated his own talents more. He also played as DM quite a bit for Rodgers, which just isn’t his position. I agree he’s improved under klopp, and that he had looked better off the bench – fair point about him reading the game mwake, could be onto something. Hatred etc I think is really harsh on the guy. However I think he will go next year in search of first team footy – cans performance v Villarreal is what we need and Allen can’t physically offer it. if he’s happy as a squad player, I’d keep him.

The one thing you can’t depend on him is scoring crucial goals. In 2013/14 against Everton, he shot wide with the goal mouth right in front of him, and we lost 2 points in the run-in.

In the first leg against Virralreal, he shot straight at the goalie in the penalty box.

We lost quite a few matches in which he started. He has improved but he isn’t good enough to start and finish a game.
