Walsall boss Dean Smith felt his side could have been celebrating all three points following Tuesday's 0-0 draw at Tranmere.
But instead the Saddlers are without a win in 13 games in all competitions going back to September 29.
Jake Cassidy had chances to break the deadlock but the Wolves loanee could not add to his 10-goal tally this season. Walsall had their own chances to take all three points in League One, Will Grigg the most notable guilty party with a miss before the break.
Smith said: "We've done everything right, apart from win the match. The performance was excellent and we created some really good chances, but we just didn't put it in the back of the net.
"I'll take that performance all day because it's followed on from Saturday. We played like that on Saturday and we deserved to win.
"We've come to a team who are top of the table and played some really good stuff. I expected them to come back at us in the second half, which they did, but we stood firm and had our chances as well.
"It started from the kick-off with the energy of Febian Brandy, who carried the ball to them, which set the stall out for the game and how we wanted to approach it."
