Walsall wait on Bradshaw

The Saddlers’ 16-goal top scorer is a doubt for Sunday’s Wembley clash with Bristol City with a hamstring injury.

Bradshaw scored in Walsall’s 2-0 Northern Area semi-final win over Preston, which saw them reach Wembley 2-0 on aggregate in January.

He was involved in light training away from the squad on Friday but will be assessed in the capital.

“Tom won’t train (with the squad) and we’ll look at him in London,” Smith said.

“I need to, in my own mind, make sure he is fully fit. I don’t want to risk him if he’s not because we still have nine games of the season to go.”

Goalkeeper Richard O’Donnell is also hopeful Bradshaw will be fit but insisted the Saddlers have cover for him with Manchester City loanee Jordy Hiwula or Ashley Grimes standing by to deputise.

O’Donnell said: “Everyone is hoping he’s fit, he’s been a big player for us this season and has scored 16 goals. If he’s not we’ve proved we are more than capable of performing against good teams without him.

“We have quality up front so it’s not going to be a major thing, we have to take it as it comes.

“We want him to be there but we have more than enough quality if he’s not.”

Left-back Andy Taylor has shaken off a calf problem and is likely to be fit.
