Kortney Hause seeking summer exit after Aston Villa deal fails to have desired effect

Kortney Hause Aston Villa 2022 TEAMtalk1

Reports claim Kortney Hause is keen to leave Aston Villa in the summer despite signing a new contract just a few months ago.

The 26-year-old has become surplus to requirements in recent times and may be looking for an exit in the off-season. The former England Under-21 star joined the Villans on loan in the winter of 2019. They were in the Championship at the time and he enjoyed 12 second-tier outings to help the club gain promotion.

And he made 17 starts among 18 appearances with Villa back in the Premier League the following campaign. However, his game time has dwindled over the past two seasons.

The Londoner made just seven starts in 2020-2021 and he has just four this term, with seven appearances in total. The arrival of Steven Gerrard as manager appears to have had a negative effect on his career.

Hause has started only once with the former Liverpool man in charge. That was back in January as the West Midlanders lost 2-1 to Brentford.

The former Wolves stopper has been seen twice since then. He played 45 minutes as a substitute against Manchester United on January 15 and just one minute against Everton seven days later.

But it is clearly not enough and The Mail suggest the rangy stopper wants a ‘fresh start’ in 2022-2023.

Confusion over Hause future

West Ham were strongly linked with a move for the ex-Wycombe Wanderers man in January. And it seems as though Gerrard was prepared to sanction his exit in the winter window.

On January 9 a report claimed the new boss had given his blessing to Hause’s exit. But 11 days later he penned fresh terms at Villa Park, signing on until the summer of 2025.

It is unclear if Gerrard views the former Gillingham loan star as part of his long-term plans. The arrival of Calum Chambers from Arsenal on January 27 suggests his future might be away from Aston Villa.

Chambers, 27, has been preferred by the manager, with Hause on the peripheries. He was sidelined by an abdominal injury for three months and now has a chest problem.

Newcastle United have also been mentioned in connection with the player. And, despite saying he “felt loved and wanted” by the club when inking a new deal, a summer departure may be on the cards.

Hause is entering the prime years of his career and will not want another campaign warming the bench.
