Awful thus far.But let’s see what Pep can do with him next season.

    Like John says above.Shooting/goals -woeful

Postional sense – dreadful. He keeps coming in field
from the touchline.Cramping the space that Silva & Kun
use so effectively. As soon as Nasri is fit I’d play him.

Ball retention – Absolutely rubbish. He’s forever giving it
    away.

Sterling tbf does track back to help the defence.

We’ve all seen the odd glimpse (in Europe) of why we bought him.
But overhaul I’ve been really disappointed with him.

Provides something extra and frightens defences. Still a lot to learn. Needs to improve in front of goal.

Generally like what he does but if he has a few iffy touches he doesn’t seem to have it in him to bounce back during the game so when he starts badly seems to go on to have a generally poor game.

I actually exclude yesterday in this as I thought his general play was pretty good certainly not as good as we’ve seen but as others have said, that finishing is dire.

He looks almost scared of the ball when he goes to shoot, he needs to put his foot through it I’ll forgive him a few wild misses like that just can’t be doing with anymore of this fluffing it wide or feathering it so the keeper has a million years to react.

Still young though (keep saying it!)

Agueroooooo @ 9:05am The points you make on Sterling. He was doing exactly the same at Liverpool. He’d breeze past people like they weren’t even there, and once he got in the box,his finishing wasn’t there. His positional sense definitely needs to improve, and as for his ball retention…we’d start off a good attacking move, the ball would go to Raheem, and time and again, the move would break down because he wasn’t strong enough to keep hold of it. I think that’s why a lot of us Reds were stunned at the price you paid for him. Obviously in the future,he could be a real world class player, but at the moment,he has a lot of improvements to make. Great post mate

he is young, has capability but needs to work much harder on his game. He will never be a striker. I believe Pep will show him what he needs to do OR………….. prepared to wait a little longer with him

Definitely blows hot and cold, great cross against Everton, ha. Maybe overawed by the players he’s surrounded with. Needs lots of encouragement and as we’ve seen before, even Silva and Toure suffered from first season syndrome. Aguero apart I can’t remember a marquee signing (including KDB) who has consistently shined in his first year.

He simply needs to get back to playing without fear – Pep will get this from him
