Yeovil manager Gary Johnson is looking for his side to launch a play-off charge after securing a 1-0 victory over Hartlepool.

A seventh-minute strike from on-loan midfielder Joe Edwards fired the Glovers to within four points of sixth place - heaping further misery on the beleaguered Pools who are now 14 league games without a win.

The victory saw the Glovers bounce back from two consecutive defeats - and Johnson was delighted to see his side take all three points.

"It didn't make for a spectacle, but three points at this level is a good effort and we have to see it that way," he said. "We're not in the Conference anymore and some people get a bit frustrated when the opposition get into our penalty area now and then.

"We've got to understand that every game at this level is going to be a battle. I was just pleased we came away with three points because it was a bit of a dangerous game. I know it wasn't pretty, but sometimes you need to enjoy the games when you are under the cosh a bit.

"Hartlepool being on eight points made them dangerous opposition because they had nothing to lose. I don't think they looked like a dying swan, that's for sure. We were resilient and we need to keep pushing and keep competing to see if we can get ourselves into a real position to challenge. We have two big challenges coming up against Crawley and Swindon, so this victory was very important."
