Swindon v Yeovil preview

Swindon are confident goalkeeper Wes Foderingham will be available to face Yeovil.

The shot-stopper took a knock to the hip last weekend which he struggled with at times during their 4-2 win at Rochdale but boss Mark Cooper says he is not a doubt for the clash with the Glovers.

Yaser Kasim boosts Cooper’s options with the Iraq midfielder having served his two-match suspension but Jordan Turnbull and Raphael Rossi Branco are both still banned and miss out.

Louis Thompson is the only injury absentee as he continues his recovery from a shoulder problem.

Yeovil remain without a number of key players as they look to build on Tuesday’s victory.

Paul Sturrock is yet to taste defeat since taking charge of the already relegated Glovers and he could keep an unchanged line-up to the one that saw off Sheffield United 1-0 at Huish Park in midweek.

But the Scot will face his former club without captain Joe Edwards who is still out with an ankle injury along with long-term absentees Adam Morgan, Simon Gillett and Kevin Dawson.

Kieffer Moore should keep his place having impressed on his recall.

Swindon’s new signings Danny Hollands and Chris Martin are set to be thrown straight into League One action.

The duo, who have both enjoyed successful spells at this level in recent seasons, moved to The County Ground on loan from Charlton and Norwich respectively on Thursday ahead of the visit of Gary Johnson’s men.

“They’ve got a great squad already with some great players so it’s going to be tough getting into the starting 11 but I’ve come here to play football,” Hollands told the Swindon official website. “Obviously the first thing I’ve got to do is try and get in the team.”

Captain Alan McCormack is available again after a recent hamstring problem but Tommy Miller will be out for another five weeks and Alan Navarro and Fede Bessone will miss out again. Centre back Aden Flint will serve the third game of his four match suspension while Luke Rooney has joined Rotherham on loan.

Striker Paul Benson will not feature after joining Portsmouth on loan.

Yeovil’s Reading loanee Gozie Ugwu is edging closer to a first team return but the clash this weekend has probably come too soon for the striker.

The 19-year-old scored three goals in 12 appearances for Yeovil before picking up a hamstring injury against Portsmouth.

He is now close to a return to action after the injury cleared up and he returned from treatment at his parent club to take part in full training with his Yeovil team-mates.

Glovers boss Gary Johnson received a double injury blow this week with the news that two of his injured players will not play again until 2013. Lewis Young (ankle ligament damage) and Nathan Ralph (surgery) will not be match fit again until the start of January.

Yeovil travel to Swindon five places and five points behind Paolo Di Canio’s men after they got back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Hartlepool last weekend.

Swindon’s defensive duo Andy Frampton and Alan Sheehan are both rated as 50/50 to play in the game.

On-loan centre-back Frampton was withdrawn just after the hour mark in last Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Oldham nursing a groin injury, while full-back Sheehan has been sidelined of late with a thigh complaint.

Both will be assessed as late as possible as Town look to get back to winning ways.

Captain Jonathan Douglas returned from a three-match ban as a second-half substitute at Boundary Park and he is pushing for a starting spot.

Fringe forward David Ball has returned to parent club Manchester City following the completion of his loan spell and so will not be available.

Goalkeeper David Lucas (knee) remains in the treatment room.

Meanwhile, Yeovil boss Terry Skiverton should include Billy Gibson for the trip to Swindon as his side look to extend their unbeaten run to five games.

Skiverton has secured Gibson’s services until the end of the season and is expected to include him in the starting XI against the Robins.

Fellow new signing Oli Johnson could also make his debut after signing on a month’s loan from Norwich.

Midfielder Jean-Paul Kalala serves the second game of a four-match ban having been sent off for striking MK Dons winger Michael McIndoe.

Defender Luke Ayling should continue after recovering from a broken nose, but right-back Craig Alcock is doubtful as he continues to struggle with a back injury.

On-loan goalkeeper Stephen Henderson should continue between the sticks after keeping a clean sheet on his debut.

Midfielder Alex Russell is also in contention for a starting place following his switch from Bath City.
